Project 2, My Self Portrait

My self portrait, definently not the easiest assignment that I have ever had to complete. I am usually the one behind the camera, the one capturing the moments! The pictures of myself are truely just pictures of me. The other pictures are of the 2 easiest people in my family to photograph.
Picture #1 is a picture of my that I took by using my timer on my camera. It was taken at a church near my house, it was about 6 in the evening and the sun was starting to set. I decided to turn it more of a sepia tone, just because I really didn't like the color of the brick with my shirt. The picture of my feet, well I decided to use that as part of my self portrait because as all my friends and family know.....I have a short toe. This has always been a joke and it is plain old me. The picture of my shadow I like because of the fall leaves in the background with my shadow. The picture of my hand really shows where I spend my evenings after my kids go to bed. I am always busy on the computer with school work. The last picture of me is a picture of me in my husbands fire gear. He is on the New London Fire Departement and I thought it would be neat to put his gear on to see how heavy it is. Along with all of my other pictures of me, I think it just rounded out me.
The picture of other people were really easy for me to take, just hard to decide which ones to use. The picture #2 is my husband shaving. I liked this picture of him because he is not really paying attention to me and it is just not a "stand there and smile" photo. I actually suprised him and caught him off guard. My handsome son Evan is pictured in the rest of my photos. #4 was just the other night, we went on a nature walk and took some pictures. He was trying to be so serious and take a nice picture at the same time, I love the leaves and fall colors in the background. The picture of my son looking at the setting sun is neat how the sun is shining through his ears and the color of the tree is so pretty. Picture #10 is my sons squinty eyed laugh! This is his true personality shining through. The last picture of my son is him thinking about what to do next, I caught him off guard.
These pictures may not be important or mean anything to other people. But I feel like I was able tp capture some pictures that I will remember forever. The true people just shine in the pictures. I hope that my self portrait gave you a little view of just who I am.

  1. Lindsey I love the one of Evan with his back the the camara and the sun blocked by his body, it really sets off his body. I also like the one of you in black and white with the firemans gear on, and the one of your little girl with her tutu is great.
