Reaction Paper 3

That’s not Photography anymore?
This is a good question to have us think about and answer because I think that everyone will have a different point of view. When thinking about this question and after reading the article I would draw the line when you can see that there is no part of the original picture left to discern that it wasn’t pieces of many picture put together and no original photograph. With all the new programs that we can use now you can manipulate anything. Although you can do so much to a photo my opinion is that there has to be a limit. If I was the judge of a photo contest I would not award a picture that has been manipulated with a Photoshop program where you can’t tell what the original photograph was or even if there was one. I think it depends on what they are asking of the photographer and what they have set up for the rules. I believe that a picture should be as original as you have when you looked through your view finder and said that is a good shot. Making small alterations to imperfections I am ok with but I do not consider a photo that has major alterations to be photography and these should be in a contest all their own. So I guess that there isn’t really any good answer for this question except how each of us feels about the situation we would be put into by judging the contest.

  1. Could I say " my photo are pieces of copies to make an original?"

  2. Marcus made a good point; the creator is creating an original photo by using other photos. Although I still think this type of photo should be compared to other heavily manipulated photos.
