Project 2

I found this project to be fun and a bit time consuming. I made efforts for that perfect shot. I think some of these happened by chance. I asked my daughter to be one of the subjects and thank goodness she agreed. She has always been one to have such emotion. From the time she ate green beans and hated them every time, to her amazement of a perfect catch at softball, really tell the story of who she is on the inside as well as the outward photo.
On the first photo, I selected a rustic background. I wore things I would not normally wear. This was a fun experience. I loved the hat, the purse and the boots. I especially like my photo without glasses. I have had them since the fourth grade. I love the weed in the mouth it makes this a casual photo. I think the weathered wood and white shirt go well together. I like the angle of the wood fence and how it draws you into the subject. I used a tripod and my self-timer.

“The Ride”
I love the sun coming into this photo from the right. I think it creates a stardom effect. The use of the scooter was a fun addition. I think the colors make this photo stand out from the others. The fullness of the green with the weeping willow tree add the perfect backdrop. I used a tripod and my self-timer.
“Are you Serious?” I think this photo says it all. I like how the angle actually made me look a bit mysterious. I believe there may be a story to tell. I was trying to hang on to the purse as it was starting to fall, but this photo makes it look like I am holding a purse full of money and thinking …are you serious….this is mine. The dark hair and the purse make the dark areas of this photo work well.
I used a tripod and my self-timer.

“Hot Fall Day”
I had fun with this photo. I grabbed the opportunity for light and flowers at the Minnesota Zoo. I created the background effect with the separation of the subject and the background. I used the levels and the color balance to change the look to a hot fall day. I love what happened to the ferns and the mums, the yellow brings you straight into my yellow shirt. I think this was fun.

“Wait”
I used my tripod and the timer to capture the shadows. I did try to jump on the trampoline and catch the shadows. I had trouble with the head missing….then I looked to fat jumping. Then when I would get into place for the timer…..back again. I made many attempts but this was one tiring experience. I do like the side shot. I like the shadows and the backdrop of the cornfield. This is a casual photo, which I could use to merge with another project.

“College”
I used the layers to create the duotone effect. I used the eyedropper tool to capture the correct color for the text. I used the drop shadow effect to bring out the text. I lightened the background by turning down the opacity. This photo shows the hard work of a college freshman. I like the dark areas of this photo as it brings us into the keyboard, the selected prop.

“Candy Leaves”
I used the selection tool to crop out the subject. I changed the fall background to a candy effect by using the color balance. The bight sunlight brought out the highlight areas. This casual fall photo is one of a happy fantasy.

“Thinkin”
I converted this photo to a grayscale to produce an image with all the values. I love the serious thought and the dancing leaves out of the monorail window. This calm moment is one of grace, sadness and thought. This photo brings me to wonder about how life decisions impact ones future. This moment in time is about the breakup of a young relationship.

“Don’t”
I love this one. My other daughter happens to be sitting on her tummy. This photo shows the emotion in her face. I love the creases in her forehead and the expression in her eyes. I love the movement in her hair and the highlight areas of the sun on her face. I think the shadow adds to this bright sunny spot….don’t take my picture.
