Reaction Paper 3
When I read this article, it all made sense to me. People editing their pictures to make theirs look the best will happen almost every time. Magazine companies editing their photos to make their product stand out the most will happen as well. When it comes to things like that, where in advertising, I think that editing the picture is alright. When it comes to having a photography contest, I think that the picture that the contestant took, should be the only thing considered photography. I think that having a separate contest for edited pictures would be very good, because then it can be classified differently than the actual photo. I don't think that for a photograph in a contest you should be able to change the contrast and brighten the colors to make an effect pop more; if you are entering a photography contest you should apply your skills to make that picture already have the focal point pop when taking it, not while editing. I like how the essay ended with a new question, "What is reality?" because this is very true in this day and age. There is hardly anything that is not edited- on T.V. or in magazines, trying to make everything more appealing and trying to get the highest effect they can.

I totally agree with you! There should be another contest for photo editing, because editing photos is still a skill and a talent.
ReplyDeleteYou made a good point. There are times when editing is alright and times when editing should be kept to a minimun like in a contest where the photograph is being judged.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are the same, if it calls for a editing contest then great if not then you shouldn't be useing editing in a contest.
