Reaction Paper 4

Looking at David Bayles' and Ansel Adam's pictures really caught my interest. Both of their photography is beautiful. In a way they have similar minds as to what good landscaping pictures are. I think that Adam's photography is based more on modern places like the picture of Mt. McKinley and Simmons Park in the Maclure Fork Canyon. I feel Adam's photography is of a bigger environment whereas Bayles' photography just focuses on one main item and that is the tree just in different settings. Adams work really made me think about the time when i went to the black hills in South Dakota. The landscaping there was just beautiful and if his pictures would be in color they would look even more beautiful. Looking at his pictures i feel like i am standing there in that exact setting because i already have a feel of what it feels like since i went to the black hills. I like Bayle's photography the most because i like how he focuses on one item and found so many different settings with that specific item to take it. Bayles work can show you that if you are just walking through a random rugged woods, that if you just take a second to actually look around you, the landscape is wonderful. Some people dont realize how gorgeous all of the landscaping around them is. I believe that both photographers take wonderful pictures and both tell us how wonderful it is to actually get landscape on paper. I think it helps people realize that nature is beautiful.

  1. I have to agree Emily that Adam's pictures really make you feel like you are there. I also agree that we do not always think of all the landscaping around us and that really everything is a part of the landscape.

  2. I agree. When I am deer hunting, I often just stop and look around while I am walking through the woods. It really is amazing that if you take the time, you will really see and take in your surroundings.
