Reaction Paper 3

This article was very interesting. I enjoyed reading it because everything that was stated is so very true. Today, photoshop is a very popular program to be used while editing photos. Sometimes is can be used to enhance pictures and not change the look of the picture very much from its original picture. But on the other hand it has so many choices that could be used to change the look of a picture to make it totally different than what it started out as. To think of photography, photoshop now comes to mind- to me, but when thinking of "Professional Photography" photoshop does not come to mind because I believe that the photographers should have the ability to take the picture and have it as perfect as possible when they take it. They shouldn't have to depend on photoshop or other editing software to perfect their pictures. I don't think that lens attachments is a problem all that is doing is helping to enhance the photo but the control and idea still is in the photographers mind and hands to make the picture perfect from their perspective. Once the picture is taken and brought into photoshop is when changes are made that can totally transform a picture. I do believe that a picture should be as close as possible to what the eye really sees. Although with some pictures edits are fun and add a lot to a picture to make things more important in certain areas. But to answer the question of where do u draw the line and say "That's not photography anymore" to me is when the pictures are starting to have edits and other objects in the picture that were not there when the photo was taken, or the colors are so different that the human eye would never actually see a scenery or subject like the photo.

  1. You brought up something interesting. In photography, photoshop should be used to enhance the picture not change the look. This is very true.

  5. I respect your opinion but at the same time disagree with a few statements. You mentioned that “photographers should have the ability to take the picture and have it as perfect as possible when they take it”. Professional Photographers cannot always create a perfect photograph. When people blink, look away, or are completely missing from a photograph it is the photographer’s job to correct these imperfections. They have to change the objects and add a person to a photo. Once this is done the outcome is still a family photo. When color enhancements are done it is intended to create a more interesting photo that is also a piece of art.
