The nature photographer that I have found is Bill Atkinson. He states that “photography does not start with the camera, but with the mind and the eye.” When I read this I felt like I had a connection. That is so true, the camera can capture the images but it captures what you envisioned and created in your mind. Through the camera, you capture your view on your subject from different angles, the colors and the edits that you make to the picture. It was his idea through his photography to capture natural beauty to make viewers feel refreshed.
I was really inspired by this photographer because of his love for nature and the different subjects that he captured. He enjoys hiking and going through trails and finding the hidden beauty that lies within the trees and other creatures that are living in our environment. This is what I tried to do in my pictures to, mainly from Skallenbeck Park in Renville County where me and my mom love to go hiking with my family and especially my dogs. The different flowers and plants and scenes that you can see there are incredible and they are so relaxing. Listening to the water flow, or the wind on the trees. There is no place better to go to clear your mind, and definitely get a good workout.
Some of my pictures are similar to his, as I took close ups, pictures of nature, and trees and other abstract things that give you a different view about nature. I tried to do some of the same things in my edits as well, highlighting the natural beauty while distinctly changing the look of the picture. He uses all colors in the spectrum from rainbow and sunset, to turquoise and hot pink. Like I have also attempted to do in mine.
Also, through my pictures I tried to show my love for nature and natural beauty as well. Capturing the angle of the broken down dead tree, to the pants, and the dock out it is not centered in the picture. The flowers too, which I absolutely love I incorporated with my black and white bringing out the color which I am a huge ran of! He creates and captures picture that help share his experiences. Every time that we go and walk that trail, or outside on a nature walk, these are the things that I look for. The different plants, and flowers, and listening to the winds and different pitches it makes off of the leaves. The flowing of the water is another thing that makes the whole experience. Just let your mind wander and completely indulge yourself into the surrounding environment. You will feel so absolutely refreshed when you leave.
Another thing that I found out about this author that was cool is that as he was growing up and he saw things that he liked and photographers and artists that inspired him, he cut them out and grabbed them and posted them on his wall. When I see something that I like I also do the same thing, Cut things out keep them all together, and reference to them when I need ideas. It’s a good way to get starting ideas.
That green moss and fog photo is great. It reminds me of a book about Ireland. What a nice photo. And could not agree more with you about the benifits of nature. How it clears your mind and gives you a refreshed feeling.
