Reaction paper 7

I choose the photographer Brian M. Gardner. It was very hard to choose an artist because there were so many. But he stood out to me, because I really enjoy what he does with the black and the whites. He is an artist out of the St.Paul area and he takes pictures of things in Minnesota. I really like how he captures a lot of night life that goes on, because in the city that is what people tend to do most often. Also all the lights of the building give off a beautiful sight. One of my favorite pictures he has is of the bridge, that I have posted on here. It is the perfect picture, the water is still the lights on the bridge look perfect, and the buildings are captured in the distance to give the viewer a sense of place and where this was taken. I am very impressed by his pictures, they just keep on getting better as I went through them. There is one of the city, with a storm in the background you can see the clouds, and the lightening striking down. It is an incredible view and angle and I really think he is capturing the essence of the city. His work, is not all the same. Even though he does most of his work in black and white, and at night. All of them have something different that makes it unique. Gardner has been featured in many exhibits, including ones like the Lincoln Gallery. He also was in a magazine called The Big River Magazine. He is also a part of many camera clubs, all helping him get better at what he does. He really is a great artist and has an eye for what he does. He keeps most of his images on the same idea, which really ties his gallery together when flipping through it. I really enjoyed looking at his work and it definitely helped in my understanding of place and to keep a constant idea through the album.

  1. I am normally not a fan of black and white photos, but the way these are done, I actually enjoyed looking at them. One of my favorites was the Lift Bridge. It is very simple but very nice to look at.

  2. The most simplest structure can really change when they are photographed at night. The photo that you posted it beautiful. The water looks like glass! You made a great choice with Gardner, I would love to see the magazine that he was featured in.

  3. I would love to have the time to join a camera club. This sounds rewarding and a wonderful way to network for ideas to inspire.
