Reaction Paper 6
I really enjoyed Melissa Ann Pinney's work. She really captured the moments in a girls life perfectly. I think that little elements that she added really made the pictures come to life and it gave them each their own character. I liked the picture with the little girl in the pool with the doll floating beside her. It really showed how little girls always have something they are attached to. Looking back at when I was that age I remember having my doll that I brought everywhere and I was attached to, and I really enjoy how she capture that essence of attachment in this picture. She also really worked with the element of place, when you look at the girls in the pictures you really can see there emotions well on their faces and you can tell what she feels by taking these pictures. The background in each one also tells a story of what place and time in life these girls are going through and that is what really defines her pictures the most. If the background image would not be there, like the two little kids by the water, you just get the feeling that they do not have as much as other people probably do. By looking at her pictures each one tells a story and I really enjoyed what she did with each one.

I agree in that you can see the emotions in the subjects of Pinney's photographs. You can see what they might be thinking or feeling.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the background really plays a part in the tone of the picture.
ReplyDeleteThe picture with the little girl in the pool was probably one of my least favorites when it comes to landscape. There just wasn't enough background in that shot for my taste.
ReplyDeleteShe did capture the emotions of her subjects I especially liked the series Regarding Emma it brought back memories of things that my sister and I did.
ReplyDeleteI also liked the regarding Emma. It was like you got to watch her growing up and how she changed.
