Reaction paper on Place
I liked Melissa Ann Piney's photographs of girls growingup in America. The landscape and inner-city environment really does tell a lot about each of the girls in the photographs. Some pictures brought out the place so much it even brought back memories of me growing up. She did a really good job capturing the girls' body language in each photograph. Since some of the age periods are difficult ones you can see it come through in the photographs. The sutle details of the place tell a lot about the girls and the things they do in different places.

I agree. She was very aware of the landscape behind her subjects. She was also very good at capturing true expressions instead of posed.
ReplyDeleteI also agree- her photos were so real and they weren't posed which is what I loved about her photographs because she wasn't hiding anything or trying to change anything. The photos show exactly how it was. Or at least thats how it seems
