Reaction Paper 8

Looking back to my first project pictures, I am very pleased with how they turned out compared to my third project pictures. I believe that I have learned a lot through class with the layers and masking and such but I knew some of that before that I put to use in my first pictures. I was not very pleased with myself on my second project but I think that was because I was not sure what exactly to do. Then looking at my third project I was so excited with the way some of my pictures turned out that I actually have some printed and used as wall decor in my apartment.

A favorite photographer I researched was Duane Lage, the photographer I talked about in Journal 7, his work interested me more than others because it is the type of photography I am interested in most. I would love to become the type of photographer he is and have the same type of ideas in work. I like being able to take a picture of something totally random and be able to change it into a master piece, well at least to me. Throughout this course I believe that the landscape photography was the most interesting but project 4 will be more fun.

Another photographer that was interesting to learn about was Sylvia Plachy, her artwork was very unique and different than most other photographers. Unlike anything most people expect when thinking about photography. Her work is just so relaxing and yet something I enjoy looking at.

My all time favorite photographer and one that I still look at his pictures often to get ideas from is Jim Brandenburg. His nature and landscape photos are absolutely amazing. They truly inspire me to try and make such beautiful pictures like him.

I will use photography after this course is over because I plan on going on to be a photographer. Photography will always be my favorite form of art. Although I enjoy looking at paintings or drawings, photography takes much creativity to come up with the “perfect” photo. Everything I have learned will be very useful in my future.
