Ex. 5

Tammy Moll
Ex. 5
Landscape Photographer
Michael McLane is based out of Irvine, California and is a award-winning Photographer specializing in portrait and architectural photography. Mr. McLane has published 2 books, Images and Urban Arena. Even though his first passion was Architectural photos he now portiats and finds that he not only wants to capture a interesting composition but to capture that instant in time that tells a story about the person.
I found Mr. McLane just searching the web under Landscape photographers. I enjoy his use of angles in his shots. His photos almost always are not straight on but at some angle so that there is a distance perspective. In his Soltice Range from 2009, I feel like I want to know what is beyond the fence line. And in his The Wrangle”, you can tell so much from the hands of the person holding the reins.
I am not sure if he adjusted the color in his shot of The Boarding House but with the contrast of the blue and the color of the boards covering the windows and doors is interesting.
I found his portrait shots all so engaging. The photo Starting life has angles that show the beauty of what is yet to come. Mr. McLane seems to make his subjects feel comfortable in front of the camera. His goal is to get the subject to relax and open up to the camera.
