VIII

Ah yes, the before and after. I figure since this is a reflection it would be appropriate to show myself in my own work. A before and after effect shows the after effects of the teachings of this class. The black and white picture was one of the first pictures I submitted in project one. Laying the camera relatively close to the ground gave me the angel to appear higher in the air. After many attempts of trying to get a stand still shot of me in the air, I succeeded. Trying to get unique shots by myself with myself was quite difficult. But I like to consider this part of my hard work and dedication for this class. I like to think of this picture as simple and a good beginning for this class.
My second photo, which is a silhouette of me in a corn field, is part of my final project. I specifically picked this one because I happen to think it appears professional. I captured this photo with a tripod. I looked for the last corn field standing in the late harvest of November and snapped the picture. I darkened the contrast to obtain the silhouette feel. It was a little easier to do this because there was quite a bit of shadows casting over my body because of the corn. Lastly I used what I learned in this photo class using curves and filters. The difference between the first projects photo and my final projects photo should be a good enough explanation of the progress of what this class has taught me.
Ironically, seeing and writing all these reports about other photographers and their work made me want to be different. I wanted to be the same as these photographers in their differences. So what I’ll strive for is coming up with an entirely new way of takings pictures. Although there are already hundreds of types of different genres out there, I’ll find one that nobodies done yet.
Seeing my progress definitely makes me think about how I can use these types of skills later. What I will probably do is use it what I think we talked about it should be used for. A art form. I want to take pictures to not only entertain but too perhaps cause a stir in the mind and spark a conversation. Maybe I’ll start my own blog page and bring together people who like to socialize and debate what they see in a photo and why.

  1. I have notcied that you really gained a lot of new photography skills throughout the class period. I've noticed that you are taking chances with editing your pictures and I admire that.
