Duane Lage

The photographer that I chose to research and look into was Duane Lage. I really am interested in his work because some of the things are so random but they are such beautiful pictures. For instance he has a picture named "clothesline" simply a picture of clothes hanging on a clothesline in the middle of a yard but it is such a neat picture because to me it makes me think of prairie living, or farm living. Another picture is of four bottles sitting on a table with a window behind them. It really has no point at all but is a very unique picture. The type of picture one would decorate their kitchen with. The picture that really caught my attention to even make me look at his work was a clothes hanger with what looks like a piece of an old belt hanging from it hanging on a wooden shed. Again this picture really has no point but for some reason really caught my attention and I wanted to look further into his work. My favorite picture of his was called "274" it is a picture of a door partly opened. But the unique thing about this door is the handle is very old and rusty and the door is made of wood and looks like it is starting to fade and fall apart. I love how it starts to blur at the bottom of the picture as well and gives more focus to the door handle.
Duane was born in Hennepin and is very active in the southwest part of the state. He shows his work as exhibitions throughout the years in the cities. He started photography when he was 13 and he got his first camera from his mother. He went to Hennepin Technical Center and studied Commercial Photography. After graduating he got a job at Marvy Advertising Photography. He left there for a job with Crofoot Photography which he currently works for now. He has been working there for 28 years and does work for clients like Marvin Windows, Dominoes, Red Baron, Perkins, and many others. He says that seeing the ordinary with extraordinary vision is how he would describe his style.
