I fell in love with Jim Brandenburg's photos. I feel they depict me if I had that perfect job as a wildlife/landscape photographer. I looked around for other photographers but couldn't find any that had the range of photographs that spoke to me. I love the north woods and prairie lands. I found a few of his photos that seemed to depict scenes that I tried to capture in this project three plus another unrelated project in an environmental sustainability class last semester. This is the location of one photo I felt was similar to something I would have liked to capture during my walks at the park that I used for my landscape project.
There was some difficulty in trying to copy his images so I provided the link. http://www.jimbrandenburg.com/ The photo is titled "Turtles on a Log" in the Northwoods group of photos.
As I walked in the park I tried to capture the natural miracles of nature. Being that I'm such an amature photographer, it is sometimes frustrating that certain photos don't come out as I see them with my eyes. However, I suprise myself sometimes when the camera does capture something as good as I see it or sometimes even better. The better ones are often the water reflection photos. Being that water is constantly moving, it is always changing so it is fun to see the moment in time that it is captured in a photo image. There is so much going on under the water, on the surface and above. As a result, it can be a real surprise to see the variations in each image.
I love the endless variety of his photos. They are actually very true to life. They show the details such as within a prairie field. I did debate whether I should have taken photos of a prairie restorative project that was done at the park I walk at. However, I spent some time last year photographing the prairie for another class presentation. Jim Brandenburg has a series of prairie photos that show much of what I would have loved to show in detail. He has some photos of the grass seed heads at sunset. I thought I was crazy for being so fascinated at the beauty of grass so it was nice to see I'm not the only one.
I simply love Brandenburgs work. He sees what I see in nature and I am happy to know someone can photograph the miracles nature presents.
I enjoy landscapes also. Nature is one of my favorites also.
